problem with regular j&j. i have a older j&j ad it shoots great and i bought a new one and it gets alot of barrel breaks.
correct me if im wrong, the regular j&j does not have a bore size its just sized at or around .68
all the new ones i saw people have had problems about ball breaks and people with old ones dont have a problem
are they being made smaller now?
(im only talking about the regulars not s2 or the barrel kits)

hopefully its just the cold weather...
my brand new s2 is breakin alot and shootin weird, but the reg j&js ive used both shot fine (1 was older model, 2 were the newer ceramics)
hopefully my s2 works better in warmer weather...

Don't know, but it sounds like the new barrels have a smaller bore size.
S2's are 688...and with most of the paint I shoot I use 688 bore with the J&J Edge, but some of the Valken paint I know is larger bore size.....maybe 693 ??
If you're only swapping the barrel out, then that has to be the problem. The actual bore size of the new barrels should be listed somewhere in the specs. It would be strange for them to make it smaller though IMHO.
The regular J&J cannot just be sized around .68...thats too small. It'll probably just list .68 as the barrel category.

I've had a crazy amount of problems with my J&J ... just got it the first of the year ... every game i play with it on I break paint ... I've been using my stock barrel again on my A5 just so I can make it through a game without looking like a wagner power sprayer
I'm hoping its just the cold ... i plan on trying it again this weekend

I am so glad I do not have those kinda problems anymore. That is one of the worst things about playing paintball is having to be a detective trying to solve paint problems. My S2 was doing the same thing on me . Good bye tippy and the shit that follows you!

Put it like this. Whatever problems you normally have will be multiplied come winter season.
Especially with trying to match the bore size of the barrels and paint. Paintballs are a lot more fragile in winter and some of those cheaper paintballs aren't quite round. In the summer the shell will give somewhat, but in the winter its made even more fragile from the cold temperatures. We had loads of problems last winter, to the point of 3-4 paintballs completely blocking up a barrel.
I guess some of the newer J&J barrels could have been narrowed slightly, ie a smaller bore from the .688..maybe 685...but due to the conditions you all may as well just over bore with 691 693, which will at least stop the paint from breaking....
People sometimes over-bore in humid conditions as well, like playing PB in Florida. As the day goes on the paintballs swell (absorbing water) and hence are more prone to breaking in the barrel due to the increase in size, even when a bore/paint match was made at the start of play.

I have access to calipers if you want to know the answer to that question. I bought my barrel a little over a year ago but you should know that. Does this date back far enough to be an older one for you? |

installed the squishy paddles yesterday and played with my j&j today and did not have one single break all day ... shot through about 1000 balls

Saturday my J&J was great ... not a single break and it was a nice upgrade over the stock barrel ... I've not used a barrel kit so I can't comment there
My buddy has a phenom with a lapco barrel and loves it
I don't think you could go wrong with a lapco barrel personally ... but it seems like with the squishy paddles the J&J is a good thing too
